Burghfest will return to Burghfield Common for the final time this September, bringing its ten-year run of beer, music and family entertainment to a close.
First held in 2016, the volunteer-run community festival will stage its last outing at Burghfield Recreation Ground on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September.
It will feature live music, local beer, cider and spirits, street food and children’s entertainment. Organisers say this year’s event is intended to return Burghfest to its original format as a community beer and music festival.
Unlimited fairground rides will be available for children aged 12 and under. Ride wristbands will be limited for each session, with the aim of reducing queues and ensuring families receive reasonable use from them.
There will not be any of the larger adult fairground rides this year.
Under-18s will require an event ticket and must attend with a responsible adult aged 25 or over. Children aged under 13 remain eligible for free admission, although a separate wristband is required for unlimited rides.
Early-bird entry tickets are available, together with discounted drink tokens, ride wristbands and commemorative Burghfest glasses. Organisers are encouraging people to book in advance, particularly because the number of children’s ride wristbands available for each session will be restricted.
Mortimer residents can travel to and from Burghfield Common using the Reading Buses lime 2 and 2A services. Passengers should check the timetable carefully, particularly for the return journey later in the evening.
Further announcements about bands, breweries, food stalls and entertainment are expected before the festival.
